The Season of Gratitude, Love, and Giving: Supporting YWCA DV Services
In October, Thrive did a lot of talking to raise awareness about domestic violence and intimate partner violence. For the remainder of the year, we want to walk that talk by supporting the Cincinnati YWCA’s Domestic Violence Services programs, which provide shelter, transitional housing, and other support services to women and children affected by DV.
To this end, we’re hosting a holiday supplies drive, collecting items that the YWCA DV Services staff needs for their clients. If you’re able to help during this season of giving, please bring NEW, PACKAGED items to any Thrive class in November and December, or make arrangements with us for porch pickup.
Each item you donate is worth one raffle ticket for prize drawings, including a Thrive t-shirt, gift card for free training in 2021, and more!
Here’s what the YWCA DV Services staff has asked for:
Gift Cards: All program staff report their clients benefit from gift cards (Example, Kroger, Target, Walmart, UDF, Marathon, Visa in $15, 20, 25, 50 denominations)
Full size lotion
body wash
Shampoo
Conditioner
Hair oil/grease
Combs
Brushes
Bonnets/shower caps.
Paper towels
Soap, (Dove bar preferred)
Adult socks
Underwear (sizes 5-6-7)
Skillets and pots
Dishes would be good
Twin-size blankets
Toasters
Coffee pots
Winter shoes or boots (assorted sizes)
Disinfectant wipes and cleaning sprays
Sponges
Brooms
Mops
Toilet cleaner
Safety gates
Outlet safety covers
Cabinet locks and door locks
Toys, all ages of children (specifically requested were rattles, blocks and so forth, but there are children all the way through teenage years whose parents are in our programs)
Transitional Living Program “kits” containing the following: twin sheet set, twin blanket, pillow, towel, wash cloth.
